Kendri Sri Guru Singh Sabha Amritsar was registered in 1981 as a non political body to continue the work of the Singh Sabha (1873) which represented the whole panth & won freedom of the Gurdwaras in 1925 and also got the Anand Marriage act approved in 1908. The efforts of the devoted office-bearers of the Amritsar Sabha got about 3 acre area, Plot no 1, Madya Marg, Sector 28 A, Chandigarh. The Genral Body of the Kendri Sabha Amritsar in their last meeting resolved to register the Sabha in Chandigarh as required under the rules. The Sabha accordingly was got registered in U.T.Chandigarh after a long correspondance. Under their new name the Kendri Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Chandigarh got the approval of the plans for the main building to be constructed within the limited time.
